WHAT HAPPENS NOW?

HCTA members-

Thank you for exhibiting great patience and professionalism as we collectively navigate this unprecedented emergency. A few things to note as of now:

Paychecks

With Governor DeSantis closing all Florida schools until April 15th, all members of our bargaining units will continue to get their paychecks through this time. We will await further direction on the remainder of the school year.

Instructional Staff

Instructional employees will use the week of 3/23/2020 – 3/27/2020 to be trained and set up their e-learning classroom/work plan. Student Services personnel should be hearing directly from their respective supervisors, but should also check in with their site admin for additional site specific guidance. Teachers can post and communicate with students and parents before the 30th, if they choose and are ready to do so. Please be patient and do the best you can for your students. As of Monday, March 30th, teachers should be posting lessons and/or assignments using Edsby and/or Clever.

ESPs

Education Support Professionals will communicate with their site administrators on how they can work through this emergency, either remotely or at their school sites. Please make sure that you contact your administrators to see how you can best help. ESPs that are asked to come to their school sites will be capable of implementing “social distancing” and would be provided with gloves/wipes for their work.

Grades for Q3

Grades for the 3rd nine weeks will need to be submitted, as normal, by Monday, March 30th as well.

District Expectations

The expectation from HCPS is that teachers should be doing all they can to help our students and families during this emergency. Proud HCTA members should lead the way! If you have a resource, website or overall idea for others, whether it be for teachers, parents, or students, please email me at CTA.president@sdhc.k12.fl.us. We are putting together a listing of tips, tricks, and resources to share with all our members. Many of the HCPS content supervisors are offering suggestions/guidance for delivering lessons for your students as well. Please make sure to check your IDEAs content folders for some possible solutions/ideas/guides.

Training and Troubleshooting

The district is offering trainings for Edsby use for eLearning and HCTA will be available to help troubleshoot. If you need help troubleshooting Edsby/Clever, starting Monday, email me CTA.president@sdhc.k12.fl.us We will have one of our HCTA Super-Edsby-users help you out!

HCTA Working For You

Your HCTA staff will be working remotely during this emergency. Staff will be available to you during our regular business hours, as usual. Our HCTA phone number is 813-238-7902. We will return all phone calls and email, but please be patient as we adjust to this new situation as well.

Site Access

If you need anything from your school site, please contact your principal or site administrator who will plan for social distancing for any adult that needs to access their school. Children/students are not to be on any school campus during this emergency. Please do not bring your children to your school or invite students to schools at all during this time.

HCTA Board Runoff and NEA/AFT Delegate Elections

Our HCTA elections for NEA RA, the AFT convention and our HCTA Board run-off are on hold right now as everyone navigates the next few weeks. Once we have clear timelines, we will communicate with our HCTA members.
